Better than Good = CAQC

Posted by TestOut Staff on

I was at a high-school football game the other evening watching the hometown team get beat like a rented mule. They were down by 30 points at the half and it didn’t look like things were going to get any better for them. One of the coaches gathered the defense and led them in a cheer: “Good, better and best. Never stop trying until the good is better and the better is best!” The players seemed to respond like a different team. They completely shut down the opposing offense, giving up just two first downs the entire second half, and coming back to make a game of it.

I’ve been thinking how the cheer of “Good, Better and Best” also applies to TestOut’s development team. In their never-ending quest to provide the best training courseware available they recently achieved another significant milestone with TestOut Security Pro 5.1.0 becoming certified as CompTIA Approved Quality Content (CAQC)!

The CAQC stamp of approval is recognized by students, training organizations and educational institutions as the quality trademark of CompTIA certification materials. CAQC accreditation is “a rigorous approval process that provides candidates assurance that the approved courseware is based on modern instructional design theory with exam objectives correlation.”

TestOut Security Pro gives students the knowledge and experience needed to pass the TestOut Security Pro Certification exam and the CompTIA Security+ (SY0-401) Certification exam. To be clear, Security Pro has always covered 100 percent of the SY0-401 exam objectives, but now a third party has officially verified that fact.

Students who complete Security Pro learn how to secure small business networks using layered security framework concepts. They also have the opportunity to put these concepts into practice with more than 70 challenging interactive simulations of scenarios they will regularly encounter while working as entry-level IT security administrators.

Like all TestOut courseware, Security Pro utilizes the online e-learning platform LabSim that combines instructional videos, text lessons, in-depth exam preparation and enjoyable simulations that let students demonstrate their skills in installing and configuring iPad security, WAP/Firewall, creating a DMZ and a host of other in-demand security tasks.

Of course the development team is never satisfied with what works — they are always looking to make it work better, and along that line they’ve included a few updates to TestOut Security Pro 5.1.0 including:

  • Firefox support for the TestOut Security Pro course and certification exam.
  • Fixes for minor bugs and/or grammar corrections.
  • A section that highlights the benefits of getting certified.

Hats off to a team of developers who consistently work to make the good better and the better best!
