It’s 2018 and, if no one else already has, let me be the first to wish you a Happy New Year! The coming 12 months are filled with possibilities and it’s a great time to set some goals. Some of my goals include finishing my IT degree, getting regular exercise, and turning the TV off and going to bed earlier.

Earlier today the flight crew elected to make an unplanned stopover in Chennai (in India) when an unidentified female passenger flew into a rage upon discovering, after accessing her sleeping husband's smartphone, that said husband had allegedly engaged in extramarital shenanigans.

Life is full of minor items and small details that need to be taken care of on a regular basis. Likewise every job comes with duties and responsibilities that recur throughout the week or month and demand attention from the person or persons who have been assigned to monitor those chores. This condition is often amplified in the IT world, where sometimes it's difficult to see the forest of one's job role for the several dozen trees of individual tasks to be completed.

Well, that was something you don't see every day. Last night at the 89th annual Academy Awards, Best Picture presenters Warren Beatty and Faye Dunaway teamed to up to incorrectly declare the showbiz strivers musical La La Land winner of the evening's biggest prize, the Oscar for Best Picture. It was only a matter of moments before the announcement of the actual winner, the coming-of-age drama Moonlight, but the legend of the biggest screw-up in Oscars history, played out in its entirety on live TV, is already off and running.
