Rally to the Alley

As the old saying goes, all work and no play makes Jack a dull boy. And nobody likes a dull boy. Maybe more to the point, a dull boy — or girl — probably doesn't get nearly as much work done as someone who's a little bit fresher and livelier. If you can figure out ways for your work team to get regular breaks from whatever their routine is, then those same employees are likely to be more invested and energetic when it's "back to the grind" time.

Somewhat frequently in this space, we share details about some of the fun things that happen during the course of a normal year at TestOut (and TestOut Continuing Education). For instance, the whole company goes bowling every year. There's the Steak Fry, the Halloween Party (complete with costume contest and festive office decorations), and the annual three-part Run Bike Hike fitness festivities. We like to have fun and get to know each other better.

Here in the United States, where TestOut Continuing Education is headquartered, public schools — mostly high schools — tend to lump computer skills classes in with everything else that falls under the label "career and technical education," or CTE. In 2018, computer skills are of central importance to learning in most subjects, so it seems a little behind the times to think of knowing stuff about computers as having application only in the CTE bailiwick.
