Sometime this weekend — just before midnight on Saturday, to be precise, quite literally at the eleventh hour — the next potentially winning combination in the Powerball lottery will be announced. The current jackpot stands at roughly $435 million, with a "cash value" (whatever that means) of $273.1 million. Maybe that's the after-tax payout? Maybe it doesn't really matter to the winner? What's a quarter of a billion dollars between sweaty-palmed suckers hoping to turn a multi-tens-of-dollars investment into a multimillion-dollar American Dream?

Is there anyone who would argue that a foundation is not the most important part of a building? If so, then I urge you to conduct a quick Google image search on “buildings without a solid foundation.” Spoiler alert: It isn’t pretty.

(Two decades past, both in real time and in the movie.) No, instead merely hoping that the intergalactic menace from the first film never darkens the skies over our major cities again, humanity has been bracing for the inevitable rematch. Our forward defense position is a base on the moon, and piles of money and resources have apparently been poured into advanced weapons technology.
