CACQ Accreditation: A Nice Chaser for My Bitter Pill

OK! Alright. Things didn’t turn out quite the way I expected for Dub Nation. We did end up with the best regular season NBA record ever (73-9), and another MVP trophy for my man Steph. Unfortunately we got surprised by LeBron and his Cavaliers in the Finals, and the less said about the release of the Curry 2, the better. It was a disappointing denouement to a great season, but I do still have reason to celebrate — the girls’ soccer team I coach went undefeated for a third straight season. (We were a defensive powerhouse, shutting out opponents more than 57 percent of the time and compiling a goal-differential of 4 to 1.)

We're almost halfway through 2016, and it's shaping up to be another great year. Everything is coming up Kyle! The family is doing well, the soccer team that I coach — 12-year-old girls — is undefeated again this year, and my main man, Steph Curry, is flying high. I recently read an article about Dominic Eldridge, a certification student who earned nine certifications, but along the way failed five times. Failure can stop a lot of people, but this guy used his failures as motivation. “I think a lot of people are worried about failing the test. That’s a waste of mental energy. There’s a lot that I like about my job. My coworkers, working environment, and my commute (less than a mile) are real plusses. (I'm also a longtime Golden State Warriors fan. Life is good!) One thing that really excites me, however, is seeing how our training courseware solves problems for individuals and companies around the world. A recent instance of solving problems began innocently enough with a TestOut customer who was using LabSim to earn an IT degree. He was so impressed that he showed it to his wife, Jeni Fray, who just happens to be a learning specialist with IBM in Boulder, Colo.

IT Training Helps Good People Do Great Things

I recently read an article in Certification Magazine about an older woman who suffers from physical disabilities so severe that she was considered unemployable. Lois Agler made her way to a Goodwill facility in Michigan that offered free IT training. She trained using PC Pro, earned her CompTIA A+ certification and is now working as a Tier-1 helpdesk technician earning more than $19 an hour. The article reminded me of a conversation with one of my Office Pro customers who suffers from dyslexia, a developmental reading disorder in which the brain has trouble recognizing and processing certain letters.
