Rally to the Alley

As the old saying goes, all work and no play makes Jack a dull boy. And nobody likes a dull boy. Maybe more to the point, a dull boy — or girl — probably doesn't get nearly as much work done as someone who's a little bit fresher and livelier. If you can figure out ways for your work team to get regular breaks from whatever their routine is, then those same employees are likely to be more invested and energetic when it's "back to the grind" time.

A Runner's Courage

Glenn Cunningham was just 8 years old, and his brother Floyd, 13, when they were caught in an explosion at their Kansas schoolhouse. Floyd was killed and Glenn’s lower body horribly burned. He lost all the flesh on his knees and shins, as well as all the toes on his left foot, and his transverse arch was almost entirely gone. The doctors, concerned with spreading infections, advised amputation of both legs.

Healthy Competition

To one degree or another, many of us are loners when it comes to working out at the gym, or going for a run in the morning before work, or hopping on a mountain bike to zoom up into the hills and chase the afternoon sun for a couple of hours. Some people need that time to unpack and process whatever has been weighing on their mind, while others may get lost in their headphones, and still others just prefer the rhythm of solitude.
