Some Things Don't Mix Well

Among the many discoveries of science, we've learned that some things not found mingled in nature are surprisingly beneficial when mixed together. Peanut butter and chocolate, for example. Peanut butter bushes don't even grow in the same soil as chocolate trees — er, or something like that — and look at all of the remarkable products we've created by combining peanut butter and chocolate. The world would be a poorer (as would the world's dentists) without them.

160 Ounces of Pain

A friend of the blog shared a rather alarming story the other day about his impressive capacity to slug back diet sodas. He downed a 32-ounce serving of Diet Dr. Pepper during his regular work schedule, then met up with friends at a local chain restaurant after work. While there, he added four more 32-ounce beverages to his tally for the day, bringing his total diet soda consumption to a staggering (and no doubt sloshing) 160 ounces, or 1.25 gallons (4.75 liters) in about 12 hours.
World Record Holders

There are a lot of world records for silly things. Did you know, for example, that German citizen André Ortolf holds the world record for the most jelly eaten with chopsticks in a single minute? Who comes up with these things? Why is it the record for most jelly eaten, and why with chopsticks, and why in only a single minute? Did anyone force André to stop after setting the new record — 716 grams — or was he like, "I think I'll just finish this jar."
