Big Money, No Whammies

There are a lot of good things about IT certification. Money — more about that in a second — is just one of them. Certification is a great way to learn new IT skills or brush up old ones. Most people study for at least a month or two to prepare for a certification exam. That's a lot of time spent concentrating on IT mastery. Even if you're just getting back up to speed on things you already knew, having a learning mindset and developing good study habits is invaluable.

Perhaps the most important reason to get an IT certification is because of the knowledge and skills that you can acquire while doing so. Learning is always good and there is always more learning that you can do. Even Albert Einstein famously observed that, "The more I learn, the more I realize how much I don't know." Certification would be a worthwhile and praiseworthy endeavor even if you got nothing more out of it than to expand your understanding of IT and keep you learning skills sharp.

Zeroing In on Certification

Everybody likes numbers. (Especially that one counting guy from Sesame Street who likes to count. What's his name? That guy seriously loves numbers.) Numbers are often used for comparison, to help us choose between two different options. And sometimes they can quantify otherwise hard-to-define variables like performance or satisfaction. Most data is about numerical definitions and quantifications.
