Don't Take IT LI-ing Down

Posted by TestOut Staff on

Super Bowl LI is all set: The New England Patriots and Atlanta Falcons will face off in the annual NFL championship game on Feb. 5. The smart money around the office is on the Utah Jazz to return to the NBA Finals for the first time since 1998 — after Draymond Green accidentally breaks Kevin Durant's leg while attempting to kick Rudy Gobert in the [REDACTED] during a second-round playoff game in Salt Lake City — because no one really cares about football, especially now that Aaron Rodgers and his magical arm are just killing time until the Pro Bowl.

To get back to our discussion of the most overblown professional sporting event of the calendar year, however, it's well known that you don't get to eventually participate in the Big Game without committing to a ridiculous amount of hard work and training. And the really successful players, like New England Patriots QB Tom Brady, who's about to play in his seventh Super Bowl, take the preparation and dedication to even more extreme levels than the average NFL grunt.

Brady, to cite just one example, goes to sleep each night at 8:30 to ensure that his rigorously conditioned body gets sufficient rest. (And also because he gets up early every morning ... to begin his hard-charging workout schedule.) Even people who are incredibly gifted know that it generally takes extraordinary commitment to produce extraordinary results. And that's a good principle to bear in mind no matter what your field of endeavor: If you want to be successful, then you have to be willing to make sacrifices.

The same applies to everyone working in IT. If you want to get to the highest levels of the profession, then you have to be willing to do more than just get by from one day to the next. For most IT workers, certification is an extracurricular activity. It's something that either happens or doesn't happen depending on personal willpower. You have to find the time to study, and then actually commit to broadening the scope of your knowledge.

TestOut Continuing Education is here to be your IT certification strength and conditioning coach. We want to help you take your IT career to the next level. If you commit to the extra effort, then our top-quality courseware will help you get the certification(s) you need to succeed. So celebrate Super Bowl LI — and potential game MVP Tom Brady — in style by starting your certification journey today.
