It's the Little Things (and Little People)

Posted by TestOut Staff on

Show of hands, how many nerds do we have in the room today? Everyone here is a nerd, got it. Perfect. So you'll all naturally remember the scene from one of those Lord of the Rings movies where wandering wizard Gandalf and elf queen Galadriel are talking about Hobbits. When asked by the Galadriel, “Why the Halfling?” Gandalf gives one of those quintessential, life lesson responses that wandering wizards learn from wherever they go to school to become wizardly. (Hogwarts?) “I do not know," Gandalf says. "Saruman believes that it is only great power that can hold evil in check. But that it is not what I’ve found. I’ve found it is the small things, every act of normal folk, that keeps the darkness of at bay — simple acts of kindness and love."

G and G

Gandalf, a very old and wise wizard of Middle Earth, had seen many things in his lifetime, and this was what he had learned. He learned that it is the small things that end up making the biggest difference. Examples of this can be seen in ordinary daily life, like an airplane that begins its flight just a few small degrees off course, and ends its journey hundreds of miles away from its desired destination.

This "small things" maxim rings true in the world of IT certification as well. Certification courses and exams are often being updated to better the overall education of the student. These small changes are important, and ultimately help the student achieve great things in the professional world.

On July 14, TestOut’s Network Pro will be getting one of these small and important updates. This update will be from version 4.0.4 to version 4.1.0, and will introduce:

  • A course section that highlights the benefits of getting certified
  • Firefox browser support for the course’s lab simulations
  • Improvements to the TestOut Network Pro certification exam

The exam will be updated to feature more simulations and fewer drag-and-drop questions. Students will be faced with up to 50 tasks during the exam and the time limit has been extended to 2 hours. The exam cut score is now set at 1360. To anyone that already has access to the Network Pro course and exam material, your update will happen automatically.

Updates are a way of our modern life, and we need to embrace them. These Network Pro updates may seem small, but they can have a substantial impact on your future career.
