Keeping Pace with CCNA Certification Changes

Posted by TestOut Staff on

Updates and advancements abound in the realm of technology. A recent Business Insider article quoted Alphabet (Google) executive chairman Eric Schmidt saying there are six new technologies that will change the world. The list included fake meat (meat, that is, essentially grown as a vegetable from lab-engineered plants), 3D-printed buildings, virtual reality, smartphones in the medical world, self-driving cars, and machine learning in education. These advancements in technology prove the need for advancement in IT education and certification. As an IT certified professional, you might ask yourself, “How am I going keep pace with these advancements?” Well, Cisco is providing a way to stay ahead of the curve through course updates.

A few weeks ago, Cisco announced that it would be making updates to its most popular certification to keep up with the digital transformation of business. Updates to Cisco’s CCNA Routing and Switching certification will enable customers to fully benefit from the learning network’s latest technologies.

According to Cisco, the courses are being updated to meet the following shifts in technology:

  • Awareness of Programmable Network (SDN) architectures and the separation of control plane and data plane
  • Expanded VPN topics to include DMVPN, Site-to-Site VPN, and Client VPN technologies
  • Increased focus on IPv6 routing protocols, configuration, and knowledge
  • Understanding of Cloud resources deployed in Enterprise network architectures
  • Knowledge of QoS concepts including marking, shaping, and policing mechanisms to manage congestion of various types of traffic

As Cisco correspondingly upgrades its exams, TestOut Continuing Education is taking on the updated course and exams with the new TestOut Routing and Switching Pro – EN 6.0.0. The TestOut update will be available to all in August. The updated TestOut Routing and Switching Pro will address the Cisco update and cover the new ICND1v3 (100-105), ICND2v3 (200-105), and CCNAv3 (200-125) exams.

To any who are currently taking the TestOut Routing and Switching Pro course, don’t expect major changes to the course material. You can prepare for the new exams well with what you have already, and your course will automatically be updated in August.

Stay ahead of the digital transformation curve with the new CCNA Routing and Switching course. Build the skills required to implement security controls, enforce policies, deploy secure infrastructure, and assist in addressing security issues. The technology world is changing, and so should you.
