Faster than a Speeding Olympian

Posted by TestOut Staff on

It has been four years since the world witnessed Her Majesty The Queen jump out of a plane with James Bond. Four years since Usain Bolt and Michael Phelps dropped jaws as they achieved the impossible. Four years since the "Fierce (Fab) Five" blew audiences away with their near perfect routines, and Robert “The Hulk” Harting gifted the world with the greatest victory lap in history.

QE2 and 007

It’s hard to believe that it’s already been four years, and the Olympics are returning this weekend. A lot has changed in the world since the last Olympics. Not only will most of the athletes be different, but the world as a whole is far from the same.

In 2012, the Internet of Things (IoT) and the idea of the cloud were obscure and much more insignificant. Automation and programming were not what they are today, and cybercrime was feared, but it was much easier to defend against. Properly trained IT professionals are now more important than ever. So how does one keep up with the times?

IT training providers are always looking to keep up with the changing surroundings. Just like the Olympics bring new talent and ideas to the games every four years, Cisco updates its courses every three to four years. The latest course and exam to be updated is the CCNA. The new version of the CCNA will take on the IT challenges that have presented themselves since the last update. With advancements in tracking analytics, virtualization and cloud service management, the new CCNA course will be built to embrace and teach new skills in these areas.

The CCNA update will include increased attention on IPv6 protocols to address the IoT popularity increase. The update will also include added awareness of programmable networks (SDN), and VPN technologies. There will be a perceptible shift toward virtualization and the cloud with the new course. Expect updated material to focus on everything that is essential to achieving positive business outcomes.

The TestOut CCNA course is updating near the end of August. Don’t get stuck in the past — focus on the present and how you can get the most out of your training.
