The New Face of IHOB

It's either a sign that doomsday is nigh, or maybe just a clever marketing ploy that got everyone, however briefly, to think about one of the food service industry's oldest still-thriving brands. Earlier today, just a few weeks away from winding up its 60th year in operation, International House of Pancakes, better known to many by the acronym IHOP (that's "eye-hawp"), announced its intention to become International House of Something Else. Wait. What?! Say it isn't so!
World Record Holders

There are a lot of world records for silly things. Did you know, for example, that German citizen André Ortolf holds the world record for the most jelly eaten with chopsticks in a single minute? Who comes up with these things? Why is it the record for most jelly eaten, and why with chopsticks, and why in only a single minute? Did anyone force André to stop after setting the new record — 716 grams — or was he like, "I think I'll just finish this jar."

Carrying On the Legacy

Exactly 74 years ago today, on June 6, 1944, more than 155,000 Allied soldiers waded ashore on the beaches of France's Normandy region to begin the long process of liberating France from Nazi occupation and gradually gaining a foothold for the invasion of Germany that ended World War II. Thousands died as soldiers from the United States, the United Kingdom, and 11 other nations braved withering fire from German gun emplacements.
