Make Your IT Go Even Without Help from Joe
Posted by TestOut Staff on
Earlier in my career, when the Internet was aborning, I worked for a company that didn’t have a certified IT professional on staff. Instead, we had Joe, a shipping manager with an affinity for computers. Whenever one of us had a computer issue, we called him. Joe would graciously wander over to our offices, punch a few keys, and usually resolve the problem. He didn’t know everything. When he didn't have the answer right away, he would go figure things out and come back with a solution.

On Sunday night, Tom Brady (Remember him?) became the only four-time Super Bowl MVP in NFL history, leading the New England Patriots to a 34-28 come-from-behind victory. (Poor Matt Ryan. The recently crowned regular season MVP now must bear the indignity of being the fall guy for a team that led 28-3 in the waning minutes of the third quarter and lost the game anyway. Have you seen the Golden State Falcons logo flying around the internet? 28-3 is the new 3-1.)

An adage is defined as “a traditional saying expressing a common experience or observation.” One of my favorite adages is “practice makes perfect.” As a coach, I can vouch for the truth of that aphorism. Over the past few years my youth rec league girls under 12 soccer team has racked up an impressive record, at one point going undefeated for three straight seasons.
Back to Square One

The origin of the phrase "Back to square one" is highly disputed among etymologists. Some believe the term derived from the popular board game Chutes and Ladders, while others claim its origins must come from the playground pastime hopscotch. Another popular theory is that the phrase originated with BBC radio commentators calling a game of football. (That's "soccer" to all of our American readers.)
