Being a member of the top-flight sales team at TestOut and TestOut Continuing Education has a lot of rewards: financial (of course), the camaraderie of interesting co-workers, and “Salsa and Chips Wednesdays.” One of the best aspects of my job, however, is hearing from satisfied customers. I love it when a customer is happy and achieving success utilizing our top-quality courseware. A few months ago, I received a call from a valued customer, Kevin Dillman. Kevin is the Technology Integration Specialist for Southwestern Jefferson County Schools in Hanover, Ind., and he’s doing a great job helping students earn their certifications. He asked if he could have an extra month of access to our PC Pro course for a hearing-impaired student who was trying to finish up his certification.
Well, I’m nothing if not helpful to my customers; I granted access and asked Kevin to keep me informed about the success of his students. His response really made my day. He thanked us for PC Pro, and said how pleased he was with the LabSim courseware, that it “provides excellent information” for students.
He also shared a brief story about one of his least experienced students. Kevin was understandably impressed and proud of this student. He told how the student “took the class seriously, worked through every section, completed the course and passed his certification.”
As the young man gained confidence in his IT knowledge and skills, he became so motivated that, even before the course ended, he began buying inexpensive laptops, fixing them up and reselling them. As Kevin explained, “He earned several hundred dollars in the first month he did this!” After graduation the student went on to college and got a job at the local Best Buy store — starting at a dollar more per hour than others because he had hisTestOut PC Pro certification. After six months he was promoted to the Geek Squad and is making some “really good money.”
That’s the sort of feedback that makes this High School Account Manager’s day!
PC Pro is a comprehensive performance-based certification that trains and measures “not just what you know, but what you can do.” As an additional bonus, PC Pro aligns perfectly with CompTIA’s A+ certification, enabling students to earn both certifications simultaneously.
Like I said above, TestOut is a great place to work. TestOut's ownership cares deeply about employees, and they really care about providing customers the best in IT training courses. I enjoy and take pride in the fact that I’m a TestOut employee — and that I get to play a small part in helping students achieve their educational and career goals.
Editor's Note: If you try TestOut CE and love it, or even if you don't — fat chance of that — please tell us about your TestOut experience. You could win a $100 Amazon gift card, just for taking a moment to share your thoughts.
