We know how much all of our loyal readers love the IT Insights Blog. So even though it's time for another of our periodic absences, this time to accommodate a company-wide retreat for 10-days in Thailand, we're not about to leave you with nothing. Normal operations will resume on Nov. 19. On each regular blog post day while we're away, we'll post a photo of some of the sights we're enjoying, along with a link to a classic IT Insights blog post. Relive the hits, people!

The Roman general and statesman Marcus Licinius Crassus is famous for being among the wealthiest humans in the history of counting and large numbers. Crassus is famous for his position within the First Triumvirate, which speeded ancient Rome's transition from republic to empire, and for essentially bankrolling the rise to power of charismatic colleague Julius Caesar. Crassus is even famous for defeating the army of legendary gladiator-turned-rebel Spartacus.

Every now and then each of us encounters a workplace situation where we don't have all of the facts. Sometimes we aren't really paying attention to circumstances and end up missing small details. Perhaps sometimes we don't get far enough into a given scenario to become familiar with all of its parameters. At times we may be blinded by preconceptions that prevent us from fully understanding the correct manner in which to proceed.

Today, Oct. 31, is the day before All Saints Day, Nov. 1, which is also known as All Hallows Day. So now you can see why Oct. 31 is also called All Hallows Eve, which eventually got slurred and shortened into the "Halloween" we all know and love.

And way back in 2009, when they first became featured entertainers at the Flamingo Las Vegas resort hotel and casino, the gig was supposed to last for a little bit more than a month — six weeks, to be exact.
