In Hollywood, stars who have a big movie coming out often tour through various print, broadcast, and online media outlets, making headlines — and occasionally making waves — to generate interest among moviegoers. Emma Watson, star of the soon-to-open Walt Disney Studios live action remake of Beauty and the Beast, got her name in the news this morning following the release of an interview and cover shoot for Vanity Fair magazine that includes a few mildly provocative photos.

More than 30 years ago, when lap top computers were the size of suitcases, I was a finalist for an important position in our nation’s capital. I wanted the job bad. It’s safe to say that those who perform well on standardized tests are those who like them — those who perform poorly on these tests are usually embarrassed by their scores, and therefore hate the tests.

Well, that was something you don't see every day. Last night at the 89th annual Academy Awards, Best Picture presenters Warren Beatty and Faye Dunaway teamed to up to incorrectly declare the showbiz strivers musical La La Land winner of the evening's biggest prize, the Oscar for Best Picture. It was only a matter of moments before the announcement of the actual winner, the coming-of-age drama Moonlight, but the legend of the biggest screw-up in Oscars history, played out in its entirety on live TV, is already off and running.

As someone who has had his identity stolen, I’m a big fan of cybersecurity. Please don’t accuse me of physically abusing a deceased equine. I know I’ve written on this topic a number of times before, but it’s important. Besides, beating a dead horse is an idiom that means “to continue in an endeavor that is a waste of time since the outcome has already been decided.” The outcome of the cybersecurity war is still very much in question.
