Practice Makes Possible

There are some areas of professional endeavor where simply wantin' and strivin' aren't enough to bridge the yawning gap between aspiration and professional success. You could shoot 1,000 jump shots at the basket above the garage every day from first grade to high school graduation and still not ever play a minute of college basketball, let alone make it to the NBA. Especially if you don't happen to be taller than 5 feet 10 inches (or thereabouts), at a bare minimum.

The dog days of summer are upon us and major league baseball teams are prepping for their final playoff push. Every contender seeks a competitive edge in their race for the pennant. Big money organizations like the New York Yankees crack open the checkbook to bankroll big trades, while others scour farm teams for that diamond-in-the-rough youngster who can provide a needed boost.

The TestOut Continuing Education family is not going to show up for work, per se, tomorrow. There is a good chance that most of us will bump into plenty of coworkers, however, more than once throughout the day. That's because all TestOut employees are spending the day together at a popular nearby amusement park.
Certification Shouldn't Be Mysterious

The world we live in is filled with mysteries both ancient and modern. Who constructed the giant ring of standing rocks now called Stonehenge, and what was its purpose? What became of the Altar of Victory after its final removal from the Senate House in Rome? Did George Washington Snyder's letter to George Washington warning about the Illuminati reveal history's most infamous secret society to America's first president? Or did "Conotocaurious" already know about the Illuminati — because he himself had joined in 1777?

Earlier this week I was invited to address a group of Boy Scouts who were preparing to work on their Digital Technology merit badges. Not being a real techie, I spoke on the advantages of IT certifications, mentioning the potential salaries and some certs that are in demand.
