Some activities in society are restricted by age. For example, in the United States you have to be 18 or 19 in most states to purchase tobacco products, and at least that old in many states to legally use them. (There’s no age restriction at all for legal use in a number of states, whereas California and Hawaii have a minimum smoking age of 21.) The legal voting age in every U.S. state is 18. And you have to be at least 16 in every U.S. state but four (Idaho, North Dakota, South Dakota and South Carolina) to legally operate a vehicle.

The truthfulness of the age-old expression “Two heads are better than one” is borne out by a myriad of examples. There’s everything from the fictional partnerships of Han Solo and Chewbacca, or Batman and Robin, to the real-world success of Jordan and Pippen, or Lennon and McCartney. Successful duos even include the likes of the delicious cookies and milk, or the ever-palatable peanut butter and chocolate. (Mmmm, cookies and milk.)

"Rome wasn't built in a day." English writer John Heywood is generally credited with popularizing that phrase, though its precise origins are lost in the mists of time. Historians generally agree that it entered the English language as an already time-honored French proverb, which makes a certain amount of sense. French forebears knew about Roman conquest better than most, with ancient Gaul being a frequently contested holding first of the Roman Republic, and later of the Roman Empire.

Did you know it's an election year? Not just any election year, mind you. Later this year, U.S. voters will head to the polls to decide whether it's time to Make America Great Again, or whether we're better off seeking to become Stronger Together. Of course, there are still some diehards out there hoping that we might have A Future to Believe In instead of getting Stronger Together, but ... the numbers just don't add up, fellas. At any rate, things have gotten to the stage at which it's temporarily most interesting to speculate about who will be the fallback option for each potential presidency.
