Brother, Can You Spare $65 Million?

Once upon a time in 2014, a Gulfstream III private jet, one of 202 built between 1979 and 1986, ran off the runway at a general aviation airport in London. No serious injuries resulted, but when your private jet can't navigate well enough to roll down a runway, well, it's probably time to consider an alternative mode of transportation. The jet's owner did what most of us would do and approached his friends with a business proposition: How about you guys buy me a new jet?
Be an IT Free Agent

It's a big weekend in the professional sports world. This is the weekend when NBA players who have played out their existing contracts can sign new deals. Some will sign with the teams they already play for, and others will seek employment in a new city, playing for a new team. A player who is contractually in a position to seek a new deal is called a free agent — available to every team, free to weigh competing offers and seek the best deal from the highest bidder.

The Information Age gives us something new to marvel over on such a regular basis that it's starting to feel like there's no problem in the world such that the right application of IT ingeniousness can't provide a solution. Self-driving cars are already on the road, if not yet performing in such a way that they are fully ready to be left to their own devices.

It's Friday, there's mild chaos in a suddenly turbulent stock market, and a gigantic snowstorm is bearing down on the East Coast (from roughly Maryland to Maine) of the United States. Is everybody ready for the weekend? A favorite weekend pastime is going to the movies, which many people do to escape the sometimes persistent troubles and weighty responsibilities of reality.
Don't Become a Failed Startup

If the IT landscape were a forest, and tech companies were the individual trees, then you wouldn't have a very pretty picture. It's commonly estimated that nine out of 10 startup companies fail across all business realms, and startups are a huge presence in IT. The IT forest would be a peculiar one, with many impressively large and noticeably thriving trees, but many more fallen, rotting, burned out, or otherwise devastated saplings.
