TestOut Career Day

One longstanding activity of many high schools and universities is to organize events that bring together students and working professionals. The general idea, in most instances, is for the students to interact, even just on a limited basis, with a real-world workplace environment. At universities, in particular, there is often an active recruitment component to such functions, with hiring managers and others getting a first-crack look at potential future employees.
TestOut Goes to Lagoon

Because TestOut is a super cool place to work, once a year in the waning days of summer, the entire company, including family members of all employees, goes to Utah's biggest amusement park for a day of family fun and prizes. Company leadership is so generous that they even give employees the day after Lagoon Day off from work. Let's face it, a day at the amusement park takes it out of you, you know? It takes time to recover from such hard use.

Somewhat frequently in this space, we share details about some of the fun things that happen during the course of a normal year at TestOut (and TestOut Continuing Education). There's the Steak Fry, the Halloween Party (complete with costume contest and festive office decorations), and the annual three-part Run Bike Hike fitness festivities. We like to have fun and get to know each other better.

Once a year in summer, everybody at TestOut walks across the street to a small park right in the center of Pleasant Grove and sits down to break bread together. Metaphorically break bread, that is. There are usually dinner rolls, and rolls are bread, so bread is definitely broken. That's not what has most TestOut-ers, however, licking their chops for weeks in advance of the this pleasant and collegial get-together. The real attraction is the food or, more specifically, the beef.

The saying goes that April showers bring May flowers, but here at TestOut, those May flowers bring a little something extra: the opportunity to engage in a day of community service work. Each year in May, the entire company divides into two work crews, one that's on duty in the morning, and one that takes over after lunch. Both groups help the city of Pleasant Grove, Utah, where TestOut is located, plant flowers.
